Game Description:
Add Attack
reinforces addition, subtraction, pattern recognition and communication!
Add Attack and Sub Attack use the inverse processes of addition and
subtraction to help students gain fluency in a mastery of addition and
subtraction facts. The same game board is used for both
operations, thereby reinforcing their inverse nature.
In Add Attack
players find sums. In Sub Attack they decompose sums into
subtrahends and minuends (or addends).
When playing Add
Attack, the winner is the first to score a total of 25 points or some
other predetermined number. Players earn points when three chips
occupy adjacent spaces in a horizontal, diagonal, or vertical row.
There are two diagonal rows, one slanting to the left and the other to
the right. A row of three adjacent chips earns 3 points.
Extending the row to include 4 chips earns an additional 4 points, etc.
Each chip belongs to a total of four rows and counts in each row of
which it is a member! This intensifies the need for making
strategic moves.
When playing Sub
Attack the objective is to be the first to fill the Sub Attack Chart.
The chart requires the winner to claim 5 of each addend 1 - 9.
