American
Goldfinch Singing Bird Description:
This colorful
species is found throughout North America around yards, weedy fields,
open woodlands, brushy areas, and gardens. They are often seen in
flocks, especially at bird feeders. They feed on seeds, especially
thistle and sunflower seeds. Females are much duller colored than males,
and in winter, even males lose their vivid gold and become drab
grayish-brown.
This electronic, motion activated,
animated Goldfinch sings and moves its head, beak and tail just
like the real thing. Walk by and hear this little charmer break into
song. Authentic bird song was recorded by The Cornell Ornithology
Laboratory. The original design for each bird was hand-carved in Japan
for realism.
