Classic Wooden ABC Blocks Description:

These beautiful antique looking ABC blocks are great for teaching capital and lowercase letter recognition, fine motor skills, as well as color recognition; encourage hand-eye coordination and problem solving.
 
Educational Activates:
 
- Ask the child to sort the blocks by color. Identify each color group and count the number of blocks in each group. Repeat the activity until the child is able to identify each color and count the number of blocks in each group independently.
 
- Ask the child to help you place the blocks in alphabetical order from
"A" to "Z" with the capital letter displayed. Ask the child to identify the letters of the alphabet with you until the child is able to repeat them independently. Repeat the activity with the lowercase letter displayed.
 
- Place the blocks in alphabetical order with the capital letters displayed. With the child looking away, remove several of the blocks. Ask the child to return the blocks you removed in their correct place. Repeat the activity with the lowercase blocks.
 
- build a simple structure. Ask the child to repilcate it.
 
- Use the blocks to spell out a three and/or four letter word. For example: "CAT" or "BOAT". Ask the child to read each word and identify the letters with you.
 
- GIve the child a group of blocks. Ask the child to look at each block and identify the picture on each side. Help the child with any unfamiliar pictures. Repeat the activity until the child is able to correctly identify all pictures.
 
- After the child is able to identify all of the images, encourage him/her to spell the name of each by reciting the letters that appear beneath the image.
 
- Place four or more blocks in front of the child. Let him/her study them before asking the child to close his./her eyes while you remove one block. Ask the child to identify which letter or picture was removed.
