HOW TO PLAY - ATLAS ADVENTURES- GAME
RULES
Object of the Game:
The object of the game is to be the
first player to complete their world map.
Rules for Level 1:
The puzzle pieces are all placed in an
easily accessible pile by the side of the board. This pile is
called the World Bank. The youngest player goes first and
spins the Atlas Adventure Spinner. If a land mass or
ocean/sea is indicated the player picks the appropriate piece from the
World Bank and places it on his/her map. Some land masses and seas
appear more than once on the board. You can choose any relevant
piece. For Example if you spin Antarctica you have a choice of any
of the three Antarctica pieces. If anything else is indicated you
must do the following:
-Two happy faces means that you must swap any single puzzle piece that
you have with any single puzzle piece of you choice that any other
player has.
-A sad face with an arrow pointing away from the face means that you
have to give a single puzzle piece that you have to any other player of
your choice.
-A happy face with an arrow pointing towards it means that you can take
a single puzzle piece of your choice from any other player.
-When a happy face with a +1 or a sad face with a -1 is indicated a
player can take a piece (+1) or has to return a piece (-1) to the World
Bank.
-Only one spin of the Atlas Adventure Spinner per turn is allowed.
It is then the next player's turn.
HINT:
If you already have a piece eg Africa, and you earn
another Africa piece, keep it near you as you may want to give it or
swap it with another player.
GAME VARIATIONS
To make it easier you may want to let all players start with three
puzzle pieces chosen at random.
Rules for Level 2
The same as above, with the extra dimension of when a land mass or
ocean/sea is indicated the player has to answer a multiple choice
question.
Only if this question is answered correctly can the player pick up the
appropriate piece from the World Bank and place it on his/her map.
Each card has two multiple-choice questions. The person to the
right of the player who has to answer the question picks up the card and
asks the player whether they want to answer the first or second
question, and that question is then asked.
All other rules from Level 1 apply.
HINT: If you have to give or swap a piece, your choice can
be tactical to hinder other players' attempts to complete their world
maps.
GAME VARIATIONS
(Please agree any variations to the rules with all players before
starting!)
-
That a
piece is returned to the World Bank if an incorrect answer is given,
or
-
Not to
provide to Multiple choice answers to the questions, or
-
That a
piece can only be placed on the board if it connects to a piece that
is already on the board.
