HOW TO PLAY - BUDGET- GAME
RULES
The following should be studied before
proceeding to play.
'Option' spaces give the player an option
to purchase one of the items listed under Purchase Options. The
option need not be exercised.
'Collect' spaces permit the player to make
some type of qualifying collection. All players qualify for the
$650 Pay Day, the $295 Commission, and the $115 Tax Refund. Only a
homeowner may sell his or her home for $9500. Only the owner of
stock certificates collects from stocks that become worthless.
Only the investor in savings certificates collects $50, $60, or $75
interest on each certificate.
Some spaces require payments by the player
unless exempt. No players are exempt from the following: 'Go
Bowling', 'Repair Appliance', 'Buy Groceries', 'Take A Vacation', 'Buy
Car Tires', 'Pay Utility Bill', and 'Buy Clothing'.
The following payment exemptions are
possible:
1. A player who has made a down payment on a home does not pay
apartment rent but must pay Home Loan interest, Fire Damages Home
(unless fire insurance is carried) and Property Tax installment.
2. A player who has not made a down
payment on a home must pay all apartment rent but does not pay Home Loan
Interest, Fire Damages Home, or Property Tax Installment.
3. A player who has purchased fire
insurance and a home need not pay Fire Damages.
4. A player who has purchased
medical and dental insurance does not pay Dental Bill or Medical Bill.
All others must pay.
5. A player who has purchased car
insurance does not pay for the Auto Accident. All others must pay.
6. If a player owns stock and lands
on "2 Shares of Stock Are Worthless", he or she must surrender two
shares (or one share if he or she only owns one.)
7. The 10-Space Pass may be used to
move an additional ten spaces on any move. The purpose is to
escape an undesirable consequence. The spin + 10 spaces is
considered a single move.
To Play:
1. The winner of Budget is
the player who has the greatest wealth at the end of play. The end
of play may be determined in one of three ways.
2. Deal $2,000 in assorted bills to
each player.
3. Determine the order of play.
Place markers on Pay Day.
4. Have each player decide which (if
any) purchases he or she will make from the Purchase Options. A
card or
