HOW TO PLAY - THE CHARADE GAME
- GAME
RULES
Object:
To be the first team to get to
the FINISH space.
Set Up:
Divide into teams of at least
two players per team. Choose a mover and place it at START.
Remove the labels from the sheet and place them, in any order, on the
game die. All players should review the terms card. This will help
you when it's your turn to charade!
Playing:
Teams roll to see who goes first. The starting team chooses
one of their players to act out the charade. Without looking at
any card, that player chooses one of the four categories to charade.
Movies, Television, Songs, Books, and Plays.
They take the top card and look at the
corresponding charade for that category for about half a minute. A
member from one of the opposing teams turns the sand timer over and the
player begins to charade for his/her team. If someone from their
team guesses the charade correctly and in time, the player rolls the
game die and moves their mover that many spaces around the game board.
On the next turn, the team must charade in the category that their mover
is on. If no body is able to guess the charade in time, the mover
stays on that space until the next turn when they will do a charade in
that same category again in order to advance.
"All Play" Cards
Some cards are marked ALL PLAY at the top. When a player/team
picks up an ALL PLAY CARD, one member from each team will look at the
category being done, the timer is turned over and each team member
simultaneously performs the charade for their team. The first
player to have his/her team guess correctly IN TIME moves ahead one
space (do not roll the game die to move). Play proceeds as usual
with the team to the left of the team whose turn it was now taking their
turn.
Special Spaces on the Board:
Your Choice:
Whomever is doing the charade chooses any of the four categories to
charade before looking at the top card.
Double Spaces:
If your team guesses the charade, roll the die and move DOUBLE the
amount of spaces shown on the die. The next team now takes their
turn.
STOP Spaces:
All movers must STOP on both stop spaces -- the last two spaces on
the game board. An opposing team looks at the top card of the deck
and then decides which of the four categories you will do.
Disregard any All Play rules in this case. If you are able to get
your team to guess in time, advance your mover to the next STOP space
and wait until your next turn to try to win. (If they do not guess
in time, they must stay on that STOP space until the next turn and so
on).
Ending and Winning the Game:
The first team to make it around the game board and complete the two
Their Choice spaces on the game board wins.
