 DA VINCI'S CHALLENGE CARD GAME
HOW TO PLAY - GAME RULES

HOW TO PLAY:
Players take turns being the dealer and play proceeds clockwise.  Deal out all the cards.  Organize the cards in your hand from lowest (1 point) to highest (Leonardo, 125 points).  Do not show  your cards to the other players.  The player to the left of the dealer begins by playing either:
one card or a matching pair of cards of the same symbol.

On your turn, you must play a card (or pair) that is equal in value or higher than the previous card(s) played.  During the game you can play certain cards, Including Da Vinci himself, to clear the table and resume play.  The game is over when one person is out of cards.  The player is the Master of Da Vinci's Challenge.

Note: You must always follow the lead card(s) played, so if a pair of cards is played, you must play a pair of equal or higher point value.

PLAYING ONE CARD:
First player: Choose one card from your hand, perhaps a low one, and place it face up on the center of the table.

Next player: Play a card with the same point value, or higher.  PLace it face up on top of the first card.

If the card you play has the same symbol as the card before it, the play skips over the player to the left (that player loses a turn) and moves to the next player in sequence.

If you cannot play a card, or choose no to play one, you can pass (forfeit your turn).  If you play a card and everyone else passes, the turn comes back to you.  Clear the table and begin again by playing one card or a matching pair from your hand.

Cards that are cleared from the table are out of play and are not used again for the rest of the game.

PLAYING A PAIR OF CARDS:
First player: If you have two cards in your hand that are a matching pair (They have the same symbol and the same point value.), you can choose to play both of them side by side, face up on the table.

If the pair of cards you play have the same point value and symbol as the last card played, clear the table.  Start a new pile by playing any card or pair of your choice.

If you cannot play, say "Pass."

CLEARING THE TABLE:
There are four ways to clear the table on your turn.

1. If Player A plays a card or pair and every other player passes, then Player A clears the table and starts over, choosing to play ONE CARD or a PAIR.
2. If Player A puts down one cards and Player B follows with all three of the identical card, Player B clears the table and starts over.
3. If Player A puts down a pair of cards and Player B follows with the other pair of identical cards, Player B clears the table and starts over.
4. You can clear the table by playing a Leonardo card on your turn.

"CARTA FINALE": As you play your next to last card, you must say, "Carta Finale!" (Last Card!)  If you do not, you lose!

Note: You cannot play a Leonardo card as your last card.

WINNING THE GAME:
If you are the first o get rid of all your cards, YOU WIN!  You are the Master of Da Vinci's Challenge Card Game!

TOURNAMENT VERSION:
Count the number of players at the table.  Agree to play one round for each player, plus one additional round.

For example: if there are 3 players, play 4 rounds.

At the end of each round, record the total points of the cards that are left in your hand.  The Leonardo card is worth 125 points.

The winner of a round scores 0 points and becomes the Master.  The player with the most points becomes the Peasant, who deals the next round.  All other players are deemed Apprentices.

At the end of the Tournament, the player with the lowest total score  is the MASTER OF DA VINCI'S CHALLENGE!
