HOW TO PLAY - EGYPTIANS - GAME
RULES
The Object of the Game:
The object of the game is to become Supreme Pharaoh by collecting a
full set of Pharaoh cards and safely entombing them in you pyramid.
When you have collected a full set of
Pharaoh cards you must return to the start square with an exact throw of
the dice. Once you have arrived on the start square, you must
throw a one to move on to the Ra symbol in the centre of the board to
receive Ra's blessing and be named 'Supreme Pharaoh'.
Setting Up the Game:
Each player chooses a camel and places it on the camel "Start"
square.
Shuffle and place the "Question/Action"
cards in the relevant box on the board face down.
Shuffle and place the "Pharaoh" cards in
the relevant box on the board face down.
Each player assembles a Pyramid and puts
it in front of them.
Each player takes 3 Pharaoh cards from the
top of the pile, starting with he youngest player.
Playing the Game:
To Start: Place all camels on the
start square, the youngest player starts.
On Your Turn: Throw the die and
move forward the indicated number of spaces.
Depending on the square you land on either
pick up the relevant card or carry out the instruction indicated.
Game Variations:
Players over 15 do not have to receive a Pharaoh card when they pass
"start".
Players under 8 do not have to answer
questions unless they want to.
If you are playing with the well-traveled
Egyptologist, do not provide the multiple-choice answers to the
questions.
The Squares:
-
Start Square: Once you have started
the game, each time you pass through the "start" square, you are
entitled to pick up the Pharaoh card.
-
Oasis Square: This is a resting
place for weary camels, therefore no action is required if you land on
one of these.
-
Question/Action Card
Squares: If you land on a card
square, the player to your left must pick up a card from the pile on the
board. It will either be a question card or an action card.
Depending on the card the player will choose one of the three questions
to ask you or explain the action required by you. Once your turn
has been completed the card goes to the bottom of the pile.
-
Barter Squares: If you land on this
square you can exchange any of your Pharaoh cards with the Pharaoh cards
of a player of your choice. You do not have to barter if you do
not want to and you can barter as many cards as you wish. To
barter, choose whom you would like to barter with, choose how many cards
you wish to barter and exchange cards with your opponent. Your
opponent must have the same number of cards to exchange. Don't
forget the skill is to stop other players collecting their six Pharaoh
cards!
Please Note: Neither player shows what is
on the cards they are bartering.
-
Battle Square: If you land on this
square you can battle your Pharaoh cards (you may have several the same)
against another players' with the use of the die. You do not have
to battle if you do not want to. Choose a player you wish to
battle with. Choose the number of Pharaoh cards you wish to battle
with. The player chosen to "battle" must then match the same
number of Pharaoh cards as you have placed on the board. After
players have placed their Pharaoh cards on the board both players roll
the die. The player who throws the highest number on the die is
the winner of the battle and gets the Pharaoh cards placed down by both
players. If the number thrown is the same, the die is thrown
until a result is achieved.
-
Pyramid Squares: If you land on
this square you are allowed to put one Pharaoh card, face down (so no
one else can see what it is!) into your pyramid where it will be
entombed for safekeeping. Once a card is in your Pyramid it is
safe, it can not be used in battle or bartering, but watch out in case
another player gets a "tomb raider" card from the Action Cards. It
may entitle them to steal Pharaoh Cards from your pyramid.
-
Roll Again: If you land on this
square you have another turn.
Pyramids: All players should have a
pyramid. This is for the safe keeping of the "Pharaoh" cards that
you need to collect.
The Cards: To become Supreme
Pharaoh you have to be the first to collect one of the each of the six
different Pharaoh cards:
-
Pharaoh Cards: These consist of the
following six different cards. Soldier, Priest, Artisan, Supplies,
Entertainment Ra's Blessing.
During the game you will collect numerous
Pharaoh cards which can be used for bartering and battling, but do not
forget that to enable you to win you first have to collect one complete
set of the six different Pharaoh cards.
If the Pharaoh run out players return all
their cards that are not securely entombed in their pyramid back to the
playing board, face down.
-
Question/Action Cards: If you land
on a Question/Action square the player to your left must pick a card,
the player asks you a question of their choice from the card. If
you answer the question correctly you move forward one space, if you
answer the question incorrectly, stay on the square until your next go.
You do not need to answer another question on your next turn, just throw
the die and move forward the correct number of spaces.
If it is an "action" card follow the
instructions on it.
Please note that the questions are graded
in difficulty. The first question is for younger children and will
usually require a yes or no answer. Please use your discretion in
choosing the question.
If You Throw a Six: If you throw a
six, move forward 6 squares. You can then either follow the
instructions on the square or throw the die again. If you throw
another six you can either stay where you are or have one more throw of
the die. It is then the next player's turn.
Winner: The winner is the first
player to safely entomb the six different Pharaoh cads in the Pyramid
and return to the start square where they attempt to throw a one to move
the Ra symbol in the middle of the board to receive Ra's blessing and
win the game.
Players have to land exactly back on the
start square, however they cannot go past it. For example if there
is only one square to go and a player rolls a four, the player would
stay where they are until they roll a one.
Good luck and we hope you enjoy playing
the game.
