HOW TO PLAY - FUN WITH LANGUAGE ARTS- GAME
RULES
SET UP:
1. Select markers and place them on 'Start'.
2. Spin the spinner to determine the order of play. The player
with the highest number plays first.
RULES:
1. Each player, in turn, spins and moves his or her marker the
number
of spaces indicated. The player takes the top card from the
stack named
in the space.
2. If the player correctly answers the question, he or she keeps the
card.
If the player cannot answer, or answers incorrectly, the
card is placed
on the bottom of the stack. (Another player should
check the answer.)
CAPITALIZATION QUESTIONS:
Players must find all the words
that need
capitals.
PUNCTUATION QUESTIONS: Players must supply the missing
punctuation mark.
USAGE QUESTIONS: Players must choose the correct word
to complete
the sentence.
SPELLING QUESTIONS: Players must indicate which word
is
misspelled. Optional: Have players also give the correct spelling.
3. If a
player's marker lands on 'Bonus', he or she answers the question
in that
space. If the answer is correct, the player gets a bonus card
and
takes another turn. If it is incorrect, the turn ends.
4. Players alternate turns until the game is completed.
Choose one of the following rules to end the game:
-
After
each player has had ten turns, the player with the most
cards is the
winner.
-
After one
of the players has gone once around the board (ending on or passing
'START'), the player with the most cards is the winner.
-
After one of the
players has gone twice around the board, the player with the most
cards is the winner.
-
Assign a
point value to each type of card. For Example:
Punctuation- 1 point
Capitalization- 2 points
Usage- 3 points
Spelling- 4 points
Bonus- 5 points
The first player to score 25 points is the winner. The winning
total should be set before starting the game.
-
When one
player has at least one of each of the five cards (capitalization,
punctuation, usage, spelling, and bonus), that player is the winner.
