How To
Play - Good Heavens! Astronomy Game
Game Rules
Rules:
1. Have Fun!
2. Shuffle and deal the
cards. If two are playing, give nine cards to each player.
If more than two are playing, deal seven cards to each.
3. The player to the right of
the dealer starts the game. Play proceeds counterclockwise,
because the earth revolves in a counterclockwise direction in its orbit
about the sun. If any players are adamant about play proceeding in the
opposite direction, let them stand on their heads.
4. The first player asks a
question from any card. The player to the questioner's right may
offer one of the answers on a card. If player number two declines
to answer, or answers incorrectly, then other players in turn
counterclockwise may answer.
5. If the answer is correct,
the question card and the answer card are placed in the answering
player's score pile.
6. If the answer is
incorrect, the answer card is forfeited to the first player. If it
is the first incorrect answer for the question, the questioner retains
the card, A second incorrect answer card is added to the
questioner's score pile.
7. If no one has a correct
answer, player number two must answer. (This is an optional rule,
but it's more fun.) Even though the answer may be ridiculous, the
player must try to give an answer of the sort required. That is,
if the correct answer is a place name, the question should be answered
with a place name and not with a date, a person's name, or a number.
For True/False questions, a True or False answer should be used if it is
available.
8. If no player answers
correctly, the questioner may read the answer.
The question card
then goes to the score pile of the questioner.
9. After each play, all
players draw from the un-dealt cards to replenish their hands to the
number of cards originally dealt.
10. The player to the
questioner's right then asks the next question.
11. When all the cards have
been taken, play continues as long as possible. When no valid
answers remain, any cards remaining in a player's hand are added to that
player's score pile.
12. The winner is the player
whose score pile contains the largest number of cards after all possible
plays have been made.
13. Refer to Rule #1.
