How To
Play - Pick
Two! Game - Game Rules
The object of this crossword game is to be the first player to use All
of his letters to form his own crossword.
Instructions:
1. Empty all letter
tiles onto the canter of the table, turning them so the letters are face
down.
2. Without
looking at the lettered side, each player now selects 8 tiles from this
group, placing them on the table in front of him.
3. When all
players are ready, one player calls out "Go." Players now quickly
turn their tiles over to create their own crossword.
4. The first
player able to create a crossword using All 8 of his letters, calls out
"Pick Two". All players immediately stop to take 2 more tiles from
the center, then continue to build their crossword now using All
10 letters. During the game, a player is free to form NEW WORDS,
to form LONGER WORDS and to ELIMINATE WORDS he has already formed.
Players can REARRANGE their tiles in order to use as many of their
letters as possible.
5. The next
player who is able to use ALL 10 of his letter in his crossword, calls
out "Pick Two". Every player now stops to take another 2 tiles
from the center. This repetition of drawing tiles and building
onto his crossword continues untill players can no longer take tiles
from the center. At this time, the next player to use All of his
letters calls out "STOP" to end the round. Every player now adds
up the total number of points on the tiles that were NOT used in his
crossword. This score is recorded on the pad and a running total
is kept.
The WINNER is the
player with the LOWEST total score after 5 rounds of play.
The Wild tiles can
be used to represent any letter the player chooses, but they are always
valued at 5 points.
All words are
allowed, except for abbreviations, proper nouns, and words of foreign
languages.
Without the help of
a dictionary, the majority of the players must decide if a word is
correctly spelled or exists for it to count.
During the playing
of a round, should it occur that no one can successfully form a complete
crossword, a "Pick Two" can be agreed to, and all players shall then
draw 2 more tiles to move the game forward.
If, toward the end
of a round, All players are not able to take 2 more tiles every player
takes 1, then those remaining tiles are not used.
The first player to
use all of his letters to end the round MUST have his crossword checked
for correct word positioning, correct spelling and word existence.
All letters used in error must be removed. The total value of
these removed letters, added to a 25-POINT PENALTY, will be the score
for this player, Once a player has called "STOP", whether his crossword
is correct or not, the round is over and everyone totals their scores.
All letters used in
error (incorrect positioning, spelling or existence) MUST be
removed from each player's crossword and the total value of these tiles
added to their score.
Helpful
Suggestions:
Play on a large
surface area and position your crossword to allow it to grow in
different directions.
Play as teams.
Once the wild
letter tiles has been played, you can exchange it for the letter it
represents, should you later pick it.
Should only two
players want to play, use only 60 of the letter tiles instead of 180.
