HOW TO PLAY - POOH'S TALES OF ADVENTURE
GAME
GAME
RULES
Object of the Games:
By combining Adventure and
Character cards, create tales for the players to retell. Each time
a player is the first to retell a tale successfully, he or she takes the
set of cards. How many tales can you collect? The game can
be played by one child or by a group of children, with help from Mom,
Dad or a big brother or sister.
Game Set Up:
-
Separate the Pooh and Friends
Character Cards from the see-thru Adventure Cards.
-
Group the Adventure Cards by color -
(There will be six sets with matching color borders; six cards in
each set). Place them face down in six stacks on the table.
-
Take a set of 3 Adventure Cards from
one stack. (They will be numbered 1, 2, and 3 and have
matching color borders.)
-
Choose one Pooh & Friends Character
card.
-
Stack the Adventure Cards that you
selected, in numerical sequence from 1 to 3, directly on top of the
character card and insert all four cards into the Storybook card
holder. This creates a Tales of Adventure story.
WHAT'S MISSING? GAME (Ages 2+)
Example: One day Eeyore
found a Useful Pot, but he didn't have anything to put in it and so
he was very unhappy. Then he found one flower to put in his
Pal. A butterfly loves to watch Eeyore water his flower.
Now Eeyore is happy.
-
Ask each child to repeat the tale, so
all the children understand it.
(For the first round, the players may take turns telling the tale.)
-
All children now close their eyes.
Remove one of the Tale of Adventure Cards and place it out of sight.
For example, you may decide to remove the flower Adventure card, so
now the pot is empty.
-
Ask the children, "Do you know what is
missing?"
-
The first player who recalls what is
missing wins the story cards.
-
Encourage the child to retell the tale
using all of the cards.
-
If all the players are unable to
recall what is missing, place the group of Adventure Cards back on
the table and begin another tale, using a new character and a new
set of 3 cards.
-
Continue playing until one of each
color coded tale has be retold.
-
How many tales did each child collect?
WHAT'S DIFFERENT? GAME (Ages 3+)
-
Group the Adventure Cards by color.
Create a tales of Adventure story by placing a Character card and
Adventure cards numbered 1-2-3 of the same color into the Storybook
card holder. Help the children tell the tale.Ask each child to
repeat the tale, so all the children understand it.
-
All the children now close their eyes.
Remove one of the numbered Adventure cards and replace it with a
matching card (same color and number).
Example: Remove the purple #2 honey
pot card, and replace it with the purple #2 bees card.
-
Ask the children, "Do you know what is
different?"
-
The first child who identifies what is
different wins the story cards.
-
Encourage the child to tell a new tale
using the new card.
-
If all the players are unable to
recall what is different, place the group of Adventure cards back on
the table and begin another tale, using a new character and a new
set of 3 Adventure cards.
STORYTELLING GAME (2 to 4 Players, Ages
4+)
Object:
Try to collect the most Tales of Adventure!
Game Set Up:
Choose a dealer. If you are the dealer:
-
Separate "Pooh and Friends" Character
cards from the Adventure Cards.
-
Shuffle the Character Cards and place
them face down in a pile in the middle of the table
-
Shuffle the Adventure Cards and deal
them equally to all players.
How to Play:
Example: "One day, Pooh decided to
go hunting in the 100 Acre Wood."
-
Any player may continue the tale by
placing any Adventure Card marked #1 on the top of the Character
Card, saying "Pooh brought along his big net."
-
Any player may continue the tale by
placing an Adventure card with the same color border marked #2 on
the top of the net card, saying "Then Pooh used the net to catch
two butterflies."
-
If the first player to play a Card
with the same color border marked #3, finishes the story by saying,
"Pooh put the butterflies in his special collecting jars with
holes in the top."
-
Next, the dealer places the Adventure
cards in a paper bag, shakes the bag, reaches in and chooses one
card (no peeking!) and calls out the number.
The winning player (who contributed the #2
card to the story) collects the three cards and begins the next tale by
turning over the first Pooh and Friends Character card.
The player with the most sets of
Adventure Cards wins the game.
