How To Play Princess & The Pea Game Rules
Introduction:
The Princess & the Pea game is inspired by the classic fairy tale
written by Hans Christian Anderson. In the tale, the Queen is searching
for a true Princess that will marry her son, the Prince. One night a
young lady comes to the castle claiming to be a Princess, but the Queen
wants to know for sure and invites the girl to stay That night, the
Queen secretly places a small, green pea under the girls' mattress
(because only a real Princess would be so delicate that she could feel a
pea under a mattress). In the morning the girl tells the Queen she spent
the entire night adding mattress upon mattress to her bed because
something that felt like a rock was disturbing her sleep. The Queen knew
she had found a real Princess (for she had felt the pea under piles of
mattresses) and the Prince and Princess were married and lived happily
ever after.
Now you can become
the real princess…
SET UP

Remove one of each colored bed from the
bag of plastic beds. Carefully place the four Princess stickers on the
appropriately colored beds (pink princess sticker on pink bed, yellow
princess on yellow bed, blue princess on blue bed and purple princess
on purple bed.)

Place the board
and spinner in the center of the play area.

Have each player choose one princess and
place her on the START space (rug) on the board.

Place all the
extra beds off to the side of the game board.
This is the stock that will be used during the game.
HOW TO PLAY

The oldest player goes first and spins
the spinner. If a number (1,2,3 or 4) is spun, the player moves her
princess bed up the board the appropriate number of spaces. She will
read the phrase on the space and do what is instructed (add 1 bed,
stop and rest etc.) Two or more princesses can be on the same space at
the same time.
If the player spins "Take any Bed" she can take any colored bed from
the stockpile and add it to the bottom of her princess bed. This ends
the player's turn. Please note that the color of the bed is
unimportant-players can choose any color they like.
NOTE: In the unlikely event that players run out of beds during game
play, all players will immediately remove one bed from the bottom of
their stack and place it back in stock so play can continue.

Players continue to spin and move up the
board until one player's princess has reached the crown space at the
top of the board. Once one player makes it to this space all other
princesses immediately move their beds to that space.
