HOW TO PLAY - WILD ANIMALOPOLY
- GAME
RULES
To Begin...
Select a banker. The
Banker's personal account is to be kept separate from the bank.
The Bank...
Holds money, certificates,
Elements and Habitats until purchased.
The bank pays a player $200 when the
player lands on or goes past "EXPLORE".
All money owed to a player due to Jungle
Fun or Get Wild cards and mortgages is paid by the bank.
All Tokens...
Begin in the center of the
board. Each player rolls the dice and the player with the highest
roll advances to "EXPLORE', counting this space as "one", and advances
the number of spaces indicated on the dice. A player is subject to
the consequences of the space upon which the token lands. The play
then passes to the left.
A player who rolls doubles moves the sum
of the dice and is subject to the possibilities of the space upon which
the token lands. The player then rolls again and moves again.
A player who rolls doubles three times in succession goes to "HIDING"
immediately and does not pass "EXPLORE".
Jungle Fun! and Get Wild!...
When landing on any of these
spaces a card is drawn and the instructions are followed. The card
is then placed on the bottom of the deck.
Becoming A Caretaker...
When landing on an unattended
animal, a player has the option to become the caretaker for that animal.
To do so, the player pays the cost of food on the bottom of the space
and receives the Caretaker Certificate for that animal.
Meal Fees...
When landing on a tended animal
(an animal that already has a caretaker), the caretaker is paid the meal
fee required on the animal's certificate. No meal fee is paid when
the animal certificate is mortgaged.
If all certificates of a color group are
tended by the same player, the caretaker may charge twice the meal fee
for spaces without Elements or Habitats.
All meal fees must be requested before the
next roll of the dice.
Watering Hole...
All money required to be paid
other than meal fees and purchase price of Caretaker Certificates is
placed in the center of the board. Any player landing on WATERING
HOLE collects all the money in the center of the board at that time.
Hiding...
If a player lands on "HIDE FROM
PREDATOR", the player goes directly to "HIDING" and does not collect
$200. A player's turn ends immediately upon being sent to
"HIDING".
If a player is not sent to "HIDING" but
lands on the space during play, the player is SNEAKING PAST and moves
ahead as usual on the next turn.
If a player is sent to "HIDING", the
player may leave by rolling doubles in any of the next three rolls.
If successful, the player moves forward but does not roll again.
If a player does not roll doubles within
three rolls, the player places $100 in the center of the board and moves
forward the number of spaces on the third roll.
Even while "HIDING", a player may buy or
sell certificates, buy or sell Elements or Habitats, and collect meal
fees.
Elements...
Elements are indicated with the blue blocks. When a player
tends all animals of a color group, Elements may be purchased for those
animals.
The first Element may be placed on any of
the animals. Development must be done equally. No more than
one Element may be placed on any animal until an Element has been placed
on each animal in that group.
The price for Elements is shown on the
certificate for the animal.
Double rent continues to be paid on
undeveloped spaces in a complete color group.
If a player sells Elements back to the
bank, this must be done evenly.
Habitats...
Habitats are indicated with the green markers. When player has
four Elements on each property in a color group, Elements may be
returned to the bank and a Habitat may be purchased. Only one
Habitat may be placed on each animal space.
Element Shortages...
When the bank has no Elements to sell, a player must wait until
Elements are returned.
Selling...
Players may sell Caretaker Certificates to another player as a
private transaction at any agreed price. Element and Habitats may
not be sold. Certificates may not be sold if Elements and Habitats
occupy that space.
Elements and Habitats may be sold back to
the bank at half the price paid for them.
Mortgages...
All undeveloped spaces may be mortgaged to the bank. All
Elements and Habitats must first be sold at half price. A player
may mortgage a Caretaker Certificate. Mortgage value is printed on
the back of each Caretaker Certificate. When mortgaged, the
certificate is placed face down.
No meal fees are collected on mortgaged
certificates.
To lift a mortgage, the caretaker must pay
the bank the amount of the mortgage plus 10%.
Bankruptcy...
The condition of owing more than one can pay. All assets are
paid to the creditor and the bankrupt player immediately retires from
the game. If Habitats or Elements are owned, they must be sold
back to the bank at half price. The cash is then given to the
creditor. Mortgaged property turned over to the creditor cannot be
released to the creditor until the amount of the mortgage, plus 10%
interest is paid by the creditor to the bank.
A player may not loan money. Only
the bank may loan money by mortgage.
If the bank is the creditor and receives
the assets, the bank immediately sells all property taken (except
Elements and Habitats) at auction. A bankrupt player immediately
retires from the game.
THE LAST PLAYER LEFT IN THE GAME WINS!
A Short Version of the Game...
Before starting the game, Caretaker Certificates are shuffled and
four certificates are dealt to each player. Players immediately
pay the bank the food cost (shown on the board) of the Animal dealt to
them. Play then proceeds as in the regular game.
THE TIME OF PLAY IS ONE HOUR.
At the end of one hour, players value
their property including: cash, Caretaker Certificates at the cost
printed on the board, mortgaged certificates at one half the price
printed on the board, and Elements and Habitats valued at purchase
price.
THE PLAYER WITH THE HIGHEST VALUE WINS.
