Description:
What are
Compound Words?
They are two small words joined
together to form a whole new word.
Level A
the easiest, uses Game Board 1 - 20 and the BLUE calling cards to
provide practice locating the second half of compound words. Example:
Caller reads the clue and first half of the compound word: "The plane
took off and landed at the air __(blank)." Student look on their game
boards for the word that best completes the compound word, "___port", is
the answer.
Level B
uses Game Boards 21 - 40 and the RED Calling Cards. This level has
students looking for the first half of the compound words. Example: "The
plane took off and landed at the ___(blank) port." Players look on their
game boards for the word that best starts the compound word, "air___",
is the answer.
Level C
requires Game Boards 41 - 60 and the GREEN Calling Cards. Similar to
Level A, players are looking for the second half of the compound word,
but the words are at a higher reading level.
Level D
the most difficult level, uses Game Boards 61 - 80 and the BLACK
Calling Cards. At this level, players supply the first half of the
compound word as in Level B, but at a higher reading level.
