Quizmo - Verbs Game
Description:
Practice with identifying the differences among different types of
verbs and verb conjugations.
Level A - Action Verbs
This level is the easiest level and requires the BLUE Calling Cards
and Game Board 1 - 20. At this level, students have to listen to a
sentence and identify the Action Verb in the sentence. For example, the
caller reads "Connie organized he desk. Identify the Action Verb in the
sentence." The student would have to identify that organized is the verb
in the sentence and that it falls into the category of an Action Verb.
The student would look to see if organize was on their Game Board.
Note: The Action Verbs embedded in the Calling Cards Sentences are in
past tense yet they appear on the Game Board in present tense. This will
help players to learn the verb in multiple forms. The reverse side of
the Calling Card allows the student to complete a sentence using a
specific type of verb specified by the Calling Card.
Level B - Two Word Verbs
This level requires the RED Calling Cards and Game Boards 21 - 40.
This level is played in the same format as Level A. Each Calling Card at
this level will require students to identify the Two-Word Verb in the
sentence. From this level, students should be able to see how Two-Word
Verbs are appropriately applied to sentences.
Level C - Irregular Verbs (Level1 - Easy)
This level requires the GREEN Calling Cards and Game Boards 41 -60.
Each Calling Card at this level requires students to identify the
Irregular Verb in the sentence. The Irregular Verb will be in the past
tense form when it is read from the Calling Card, but it will be in the
present tense on the Game Board. Note: Some Irregular Verbs don't change
based on the tense, so it will appear the same on the Calling Card and
the Game Board. The verbs at this level are more basic and commonly used
Irregular Verbs.
Level D - Irregular Verbs (Level 2 - Difficult)
This level requires the BLACK Calling Cards and Game Board 61 - 80.
This level is identical to Level C, but the Irregular Verbs in their
level are more difficult to conjugate and may not be as widely known.
