The Phonemic
Awareness Card Set, is perfect for introducing, letter sounds, sound /
symbol relationships, and building simple words. Create a center that
focuses on learning sound / symbol relationships. Have students match
the picture cards with the letter cards. Ask them to first say the name
of the picture and then find the corresponding first letter. Challenge
students to sound out the entire word and spell that word. Or sound out
the words on the word cards and then find the matching pictures.
An individual
student can play a matching game! Ask the student to say the name of a
picture card and find another picture card that has the same beginning
sound. Challenge the student further by having her determine what letter
the two picture cards begin with.
