Card Set Description:
The Word Families
Card Set, is perfect for introducing, rhyming, short and
long vowel recognition, and spelling patterns. Create a center
that focuses on spelling patterns. Place the word family card "-ad" on a
line. Then have students use the alphabet cards to find all the words
that end with "-ad"
(e.g., had and sad). Do the same with all of the other word family
cards.
An individual student can practice rhyming by finding rhyming word cards
and sorting them. For example, if the student starts with the word fed,
ask the student what other words rhyme with fed? Encourage the student
to build his own words that rhyme with fed by using the word family and
alphabet cards.
