Game
Description:
Shape sorting and strategy cross paths in this three-dimensional
game.
Two
levels of play allow younger children to sort shapes in a fun game
format. Each playing piece is really three shapes in one: square, circle
and triangle. The game board is recessed plastic and holds the shapes.
Players roll the die to determine which shape should be played. Older
children will try to outwit their opponent by moving and jumping their
game pieces.
General Educational Goals:
-
A clever game
of matching geometrical objects to recesses.
-
Identification
of the geometrical shapes in each three-dimensional playing piece.
-
Development of
fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Educational
Goals for Young Children: To match the game pieces to the
recesses in the game board. Each piece is a three-dimensional
object that contains 3 geometrical shapes: a square, a circle and a
triangle.
The recesses on the
game board are also in three shapes: a square, a circle and a triangle.
Note: It is easy to identify these shapes if you look at the game board
from above.
Educational Goals for Older Children:
In addition to the
above goals, Triple Try can also be played as a game of strategy, where
players use their judgement in planning game moves, observing the
opponents' moves and blocking the opponents' progress.
Game for One
Player - Familiarization
The game board is divided into 4 sections. Each section is
meant for a different color. The player fits his/her game pieces
into the recesses on the game board.
Note: Each playing piece is a three-dimensional object which can be
turned to fit into any of the recesses.
Game for 2 Players,
Ages 4-5: Cast the Die
How to Play:
-
Each player
receives 12 game pieces, 6 each of 2 different colors.
-
Decide on the
order of play.
-
Each player, in
turn, throws the die, which shows a geometrical shape. That
player then places a playing piece of his/her color in a recess of
that shape in the correct section of the game board. For
example, if the die shows a triangle, the player takes a piece and
matches its "triangle" side to a triangle recess on the game board.
If there is no triangle recess free, it is the next player's turn.
When there are more than 2 players, each player receives 6 game
pieces of 1 color and plays on one-quarter of the board only.
Game For 2-3
Players, Ages 5-7: Capture the Target
Aim of the Game: To place the 6 game pieces of your color in
the recesses of the section of the game board you chose.
Before the Game:
1. Each player receives 6 game pieces of the same color.
2. The players place all their game pieces in the recesses on the
game board. Spread the pieces over all 4 sections of the board so
that there are 1-2 pieces of the same color in each section.
How to Play:
Each player
looks at the board and chooses one of the four sections as his/her
target, where all his/her game pieces must be placed.
Moves: Players may, move only their own game pieces. The pieces
may be moved on the game board to an adjacent open recess, or a game
piece can jump over another game piece belonging to the same player or
to an opponent, and land on a free recess located beyond that piece.
Game pieces can
jump twice in the same turn, as long as each jump takes the piece over
one other piece to a free recess. You may move or jump
horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
The Winner
is the first player who completely fills a board section with his/her 6
game pieces.
